Macarons & Mirrored Reflections

So it's been a long time since I've wrote a blog post, due to my lack of creativity and being busy with every day things. Sometimes I feel like plans just take over and there's never enough time to do everything on my to-do list. But last week I was down in London for a few days just exploring and visiting places that I've never been before. I've always loved the night-time atmosphere of London and how it's so lively and energetic, but I've never actually viewed it from the top. I also really wanted to visit the Yayoi Kusama exhibition at the Victoria Miro, after seeing continuous Instagram posts on my feed I was determined to do that first thing even with the half an hour queue in the heat.

So I thought I'd write up a post about what we did, the new restaurants we tried (even if we were a little late to the party) and the things that we saw. As this was a midweek trip, it was a lot quieter than usual, which was actually better as I sometimes get a bit overwhelmed when there's too many people around me. On the day that we got there we had a quick bite to eat and then made our way to the Victoria Miro museum which was so packed but definitely worth it! I was quite surprised that they only allowed each pair in for minute in each of the rooms, which I don't think is enough time to take everything in as I could have literally locked myself in those boxes for the whole day! The exhibition is still on for a little while so if you're a fan of her work it is definitely worth going. To be honest the rooms seem a lot bigger in photographs because of all the mirrors, so I was pretty surprised at the size of them, but at the same time the photographs don't do them justice as everything was just SO SO beautiful.

We then went to Dishoom in the evening for dinner where you get THE most tastiest Indian food EVER! Along with a little stroll through the markets in Covent Garden as strangely every time I've visited Covent Garden the markets have always been closed. The next day we decided to go to Laduree for breakfast and I chose the fried eggs with tomatoes and crispy bread. I've only ever tried macarons and a few cakes as every time I go I just can't resist the temptation of the pretty desserts on display, but the breakfast was really yummy and I'll definitely be going back there.

After that it was the usual trip Harrods and shopping on Oxford Street, which always includes a visit to Lush and Topshop! The evening was spent getting dressed up and going to Sketch for dinner, which I will write up a separate post about later on. I'd love to know if any of you guys have favourite spots in London or if you know of any good restaurants etc, drop a comment below and let me know. I hope you enjoyed reading this post, xo

Liberty 'Wall of Wishes'

Happy Saturday Everyone! I hope you are all having a lovely weekend so far. So during my trip to London in the holidays, there was one thing I was SO excited to go and do. I'd seen this on Liberty's Instagram previously and I couldn't wait til I had my chance to go and put up my very own wish.

Yes I'm talking about the amazing 'Wall of Wishes' they've put up in aid of charity, where you can donate any amount you wish and then use one of the tags to write a wish and hang it up with the rest of them. I have to say it does look beautiful with all the tags hanging together, and I know it's not the same thing but it did remind me of Paris' Love Lock Bridge.

So I made my way into Liberty's and onto the second floor, went over to the checkout to donate, and I was then told to go over to the 'Wall of Wishes' and I could grab a tag and write my message. But when we got closer we noticed that the table was empty. We walked back to the lovely gentleman who had served us and were then told that they had run out of the tags, and as it was a Monday and the Head Office is closed, they were unfortunately unable to put out more tags.

I was then kindly told to scribble my name and address down on a piece of paper and that a tag would be posted to me so I could still write my wish. After 12 days of expecting it to arrive in the post I'm guessing it's been misplaced, which is completely understandable with the busy rush of the sales! Sadly I've seen that it's now been taken down and they will announce a winner on the 29th of January.

So as I was unfortunately unable to write my very own wish on the wall, I decided that I would write a post about it instead. This year I am launching my very own label of luxury silk scarves and pocket squares. If you've read my previous post you might have visited my website that launched this week, where you can view my designs and see the collections. My wish for the Liberty 'Wall of Wishes' would most definitely have mentioned the fact that I've always dreamed of my scarves being in the Liberty Scarf Hall one day.

Every time I pop into Liberty's I head straight for the scarf hall so I can admire all those beautiful, unique designs by some amazing and VERY talented designers. My wish would be to have my very own silk scarves hanging up there with the rest of them, and maybe one day there will be people like me who will go into the store just to admire those mesmerising pieces of silk, wool or any other fabrics that scarves have been made of. I might even be so lucky to have people not only love the designs, but love them enough that they hate to part with it and just have to buy a piece.

Hoping that my scarves do get noticed, and I'm hoping that this year will be even more exciting than I imagine! If you haven't seen my collection of the 'Underwater Escapade' you can view my website here, or go onto sukisabur.co.uk. xo

'Liberty in Fashion'

So this week I finally went to visit the 'Liberty in Fashion' exhibition at the Fashion & Textile Museum in London. I've been so excited to see a range of designs, artefacts and so much history that lies within this unique British department store. As soon as I walked into the first room I was in awe of the wall art featuring an illustration of the store. Next to it is a timeline with all the important turning points and achievements, which is a feature that most exhibitions normally have.

The exhibition features various dresses and outfits made out of some iconic Liberty prints from different eras. There has also been a lot of collaborations with different brands using the prints, some which are featured in the exhibition.

I especially fell in love with the range of printed silk scarves and fabric samples that were laid out in a glass box. The collection of them together just looks so intricate and colourful that it draws you in.

Below I've included some photographs of my favourite pieces. I don't want to give too much away as I feel that its worth going inside and seeing it for yourself as it was beautifully curated. If you do have an interest in art, fashion and textiles then it's definitely worth a visit! And if you've ever been to Liberty's and fell in love with even just one product or design then you won't want to let this unique exhibition come to an end without stepping inside! xo
