The Season to Butter Up

What's the one thing you hate about Winter? Chapped lips. It's the bane of my life during the cold months and I know I can't be the only one. I'm so used to constantly putting on lip balm that when I don't have any on I feel bare and uncomfortable. I've tried so many lip balms in the past few years and although I've re-purchased certain ones, just recently I found the one that is perfect for me. I've heard a lot of people raving about the Nuxe Reve De Miel lip balm and I never understood why it was so special, until now.
I have a habit of smothering my lips many times a day whether its after every meal or the one thing I do before bed. The fact that most lip balms I use are so easy to glide on and off in one go is the reason that I constantly treat my lips. But I've been using the Reve De Miel for just over a week and I've noticed such a difference. It's definitely not like other lip balms as it seems to be a lot more concentrated and thicker in texture. I felt a bit odd when I started using it as it's quite sticky and doesn't come off easily. I've even had to reduce the amount I use as this one literally stays on all night. I've used it every night and woken up with the softest lips, although it sometimes seems like there's an extra layer on your lips, and that's when I reach for the Lush lip scrub.
A lot of lip balms I've used recently would wash off with warm water but this one doesn't. The only time I've disliked it is when I eat something quite messy and it still stays glued to my lips, (along with the food). So I've started to clean and scrub my lips more often to start fresh with a new application of lip balm and colour on top. I started using the Mint Julips lip scrub a few years ago and I've used it every day since. It's great for getting rid of the dead skin and as a base before applying anything to the lips. Never again am I resorting to an old toothbrush for this.
I've still been using my other lip balms occasionally when I want a quick refresh during the day on top of lipstick. One of my recent new favourites was Body Shop's Argan Oil Solid Oil Lip Balm, which I feel is more soothing and easier to apply over colour, compared to all the other Body Shop lip butters. I've also loved the Kiko Nourishing Night Balm for a good few years as that always feels like it soaks in your skin for softer lips the next day. I've just decided to not mix the Nuxe Reve De Miel with any of my other lip balms as it works much better alone or with lipstick. As it is more thick and matte it's a better base before applying colour. Has anyone else tried any of these lip balms or have any other favourites? xo
